I’m sorry if anyone was upset by this post. It was written way way back in November 2006- 6 lifetimes ago in the world of internet. http://call2arms.blogsome.com/2006/11/
Some southern born and dwelling readers told me it was offensive, told me why it was offensive and moved on. Apparently someone held on, took it as a personal attack and has been waiting to lash out. Gee whiz beav, I read a blog by a blogger who visited L.A. and hated it. She was scared by and disliked lots of stuff but I didn’t take it as a personal attack. I don’t need anyone to like me or the state, or the city. This place is too expensive to be in, if you don’t love it and adore it.
I really don’t understand the need to protect locations, maybe if I was a travel agent, or made money off tourism. Maybe if I was a builder or something and made money off homes being built. I love where I live and I love it enough for the people who hate it. I’m not blind to its problems, or its drawbacks.
It probably doesn’t make the offended feel better, but there are areas in L.A. County and parts of the Bay Area that I avoid, due to fear of being lynched or arrested and charged with a crime.
And the voting systems and policy in some states are archaic. If you are offended by that, you need to speak with your legislators, not me.

IOWA ROCKS! it is the Best place on earth. LOL! HA!
Okay…besides haters I hope you are having a blessed day. Holla!

My sister’s friend is a flight attendant. She told us that we have to go to Iowa, because the meat is that good.

Some folks are just combative, and it doesn’t require much to get them riled up.

I went back and read your entry.. it seems like you were implying that the “south” is a scary place or something. I’m not sure why you thnk that, whether it’s a racial thing, or a crime thing or what, but I can see how that may offend an overly sensitive person. There are some red neck little towns in the south that ARE pretty scary!

I haven’t read the post, but as a “Daughter of the South” (lol) who is very embarrassed about some of the things that happen there, I don’t give a crap when someone points out the obvious. As a matter of fact, I’ve pointed out quite a bit of it myself, much to the chagrin of passersby. Who cares?! Much of the South is a shit hole and anyone who doesn’t want to admit that is lying to him or her self. Trying to act like the South is the best place on Earth is downright ridiculous. Now, let me read the post so that I can offer up some Amens. lol

Although, I’m sure you didn’t mean for the original post to be offensive, I can see how it is offensive to someone who lives in the South. When I go there, I have to be careful what I say because people are sensitive because they think you are looking down on them even though this may not be your intention.
Having said that, I was born in New Orleans, but lived down on the Bayous. Although I’m not afraid of the South and I am more afraid of some of these little small towns in IL, one of my cousins was hit in the head from behind by a white man because he was talking to a white woman. After my cousin fell to the floor, the man kicked him with his cowboy boots. By the time they rushed my cousin to the hospital, he had a 10% chance of living. My cousins lived, but he is suffering from brain damage and can no longer work. This was in 1995.
For the most part, people are not this openly hostile to anyone. I think it is bad for Black people all over. I am still thinking about moving back to the South. I like it much better than Chicago.

Cynthia, I’m sorry that happened to your cousin. People regardless of region can be sick. That man had a depraved mind and no heart.
